About Ganesh Chaturthi Season — Traditions & Observance
The Ganesh season celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, the beloved remover of obstacles. Beginning on Ganesh Chaturthi (fourth day of the bright half of Bhadrapada), families and communities install Ganesha idols, offer modak, durva grass and red flowers, and sing aartis morning and evening. The festival ends on Anant Chaturdashi with visarjan — the immersion of the idol amid chants of "Ganpati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya" (come early next year).
