The elephant-headed deity, remover of obstacles and lord of new beginnings. Son of Shiva and Parvati, Ganesha is worshipped before starting any endeavor. He loves modakas (sweet dumplings) and rides a mouse. Ganesh Chaturthi is his grand ten-day birth festival.
Worship of Lord Ganesha — Puja, Vrat & Offerings
Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, is invoked at the beginning of every puja, journey and new venture — no auspicious work starts without His blessing. Wednesdays and every Chaturthi (fourth tithi) are sacred to Him, and Ganesh Chaturthi is His grand festival. Offer modak (His favourite sweet), durva grass and red flowers. Chanting "Om Gam Ganapataye Namah" before beginning any task clears the path of unseen hurdles.
