The goddess of wealth, fortune, prosperity, and beauty. She is the consort of Vishnu and resides in Vaikuntha. She emerged from the churning of the cosmic ocean (Samudra Manthan). Diwali and Vaibhava Lakshmi vrat are her major observances.
Worship of Goddess Lakshmi — Puja, Vrat & Offerings
Goddess Lakshmi, the bestower of wealth and fortune, is worshipped on Fridays and most grandly on Diwali night, when homes are cleaned, lamps are lit, and doors are opened to welcome Her. Offer red flowers, lotus blooms, kheer (sweet rice pudding) and coins at Her feet. Chanting the Shri Suktam or "Om Mahalakshmyai Namah" invites abundance, while cleanliness and honesty keep Her grace in the home — Lakshmi is said to dwell only where there is purity, order and right conduct.
