The festivals of West Bengal, Odisha, Assam and the eastern states have their own distinct flavour, rooted in the Shakti (Goddess) tradition. Durga Puja in Bengal is the grandest of all — days of artistic pandals, dhunuchi dance and pushpanjali, culminating in the emotional sindoor khela and immersion. Kali Puja, Jagaddhatri Puja, Saraswati Puja and Ratha Yatra in Puri each draw millions of devotees with their own rituals, bhog offerings and centuries-old customs.
