What is the Daily Panchang?
The Panchang is the Vedic almanac — five limbs (pancha-anga) that define the quality of each day: Tithi (lunar day), Vara (weekday), Nakshatra (lunar mansion), Yoga (sun-moon angle) and Karana (half-tithi). Checking the daily panchang before important work is a centuries-old habit: tithis guide fasting, nakshatras guide new beginnings, and the Rahu Kala, Yamaganda and Gulika periods are avoided for auspicious starts. Choose your location and date before reading the results. This daily view uses the selected city’s time zone and date-specific UTC offset; see the date-comparison guide below for location and calendar differences.
Why Panchang dates can differ
Check the city and time zone
Sunrise depends on location. A tithi can continue across midnight, so a calendar date alone does not describe its full interval. Compare the same city, date and time zone before comparing two calendars. Read about local Panchang timings.
The daily tool shows the selected city’s time zone and UTC offset for the chosen date. Supported overseas cities use their local date and daylight-saving offset. If a custom location has no time zone, select one in the location menu before calculating.
Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga and Karana here describe the calculation at local sunrise. They are not end-time predictions. The sunlight indicator appears only for today in the selected city.
Ekadashi tithi and the observance date
The beginning of Ekadashi tithi is not itself a fasting start instruction. The tithi can span two civil dates, while the observance and Parana (breaking the fast) follow separate rules. Check a calendar for your location and tradition. Read the Ekadashi timing explanation.
Amanta and Purnimanta month names
Amanta months end at Amavasya, the new moon; Purnimanta months end at Purnima, the full moon. These different boundaries can give the same day different lunar month names. Compare the month system as well as the tithi and paksha. See the lunar-month definitions.
Browse Panchang by city or devotional readings. Local astronomical timings do not by themselves determine tradition-specific fasting, Parana or festival observance dates.
