Lord Ayyappa

The son of Shiva and Vishnu (in Mohini form), deity of the Sabarimala temple in Kerala. Pilgrims undertake a 41-day austerity before climbing the sacred hill. The Makaravilakku festival at Makar Sankranti is his main celebration. He represents the unity of Shaiva and Vaishnava traditions.
