Text sources and edition notes

The Devanagari wording preserves the six sections held in this library and was compared with the published Jagdev Dhanu Panda lyrics. Regional spellings and the shortened refrain are retained.

The Roman reading was prepared line by line using the Library of Congress ALA-LC Hindi romanization table. It retains written inherent vowels, including final a, rather than guessing how a singer drops them. No composer or musical reviewer is attributed.

Reading guide

  • The opening section is the refrain. The shortened “जगदेव” at the end of later sections points back to it.
  • Sections 2 and 3 ask who made the earth, the world and the shrine, then give the song’s reply. Sections 4 and 5 repeat that pattern with questions about their purpose.
  • Section 6 addresses “आदि भवानी” and “मैया”. Read these statements as the words of this devotional song, not as a historical account of the people named in it.

About this text

The Devanagari copy is paired with a line-by-line Roman transliteration using the ALA-LC Hindi table. Written vowels and regional spellings are retained. This is not a translation; the closing name alone does not establish authorship. See the linked text sources for the method.
