King of the devas (divine beings), god of thunder, lightning, storms, and rain in Vedic tradition. He wields the vajra (thunderbolt). He is frequently mentioned in the Rigveda and plays a major role in Vedic mythology. His mount is the white elephant Airavata.

Daily worship of the deity need not be elaborate — a lit lamp, a few flowers, and a sincere prayer offered each morning create a sacred rhythm in the home. Learn the deity’s special day of the week and observe it with a simple fast or extra recitation.
