Lord Murugan

The Hindu god of war and victory, son of Shiva and Parvati. He carries a vel (spear) and rides a peacock. He is the general of the divine army who defeated the demon Soorapadman. Murugan is especially revered in Tamil Nadu where Thaipusam and Panguni Uttaram are celebrated in his honour.
