The warrior goddess who defeats the buffalo demon Mahishasura. Durga is the supreme goddess of Shaktism, representing divine feminine power (Shakti). She rides a lion and carries weapons in her multiple arms. Navratri is the nine-night festival dedicated to her nine forms (Navadurga).
Worship of Goddess Durga — Puja, Vrat & Offerings
Goddess Durga, the fierce protector, is worshipped most intensely during the nine nights of Navratri, when each night honours one of Her nine forms. Devotees fast, chant the Durga Saptashati (700 verses), and offer red hibiscus flowers — Her favourite. Tuesdays and Saturdays are Her special days. Worshipping Durga grants courage to face life’s battles; She is invoked whenever negative forces, fear or injustice must be overcome.
