What is the Daily Panchang?

The Panchang is the Vedic almanac — five limbs (pancha-anga) that define the quality of each day: Tithi (lunar day), Vara (weekday), Nakshatra (lunar mansion), Yoga (sun-moon angle) and Karana (half-tithi). Checking the daily panchang before important work is a centuries-old habit: tithis guide fasting, nakshatras guide new beginnings, and the Rahu Kala, Yamaganda and Gulika periods are avoided for auspicious starts.
