Lord Surya

The sun deity, source of all light and life, giver of health and vitality. He rides a chariot pulled by seven horses. The Gayatri Mantra is addressed to him as Savitr. Chhath Puja and Ratha Saptami are his major festivals. Surya Namaskar (sun salutation) in yoga is dedicated to him.
