Mobile App Privacy Policy

This policy describes the Android and iOS Sankalpa Guru app, including the website endpoints it uses to sign in, calculate results and sync records.

The mobile app is operated by Rahul Pathare, India. For app support, privacy questions, correction requests or deletion assistance, contact support@sankalpa.guru.

Use without an account

You can read public content and use guest features without signing in. Guest profile and practice records are stored on your device. Location and notification permissions are optional. Declining them does not prevent guest access.

Account and personal records

If you choose SMS sign-in, we process your mobile number, optional name and authentication information. MSG91 delivers the requested OTP. Our backend validates the code and creates a session; the mobile session token is kept in the operating system's secure storage.

You may enter your own or family members' names, birth details, gotra and relationship information. Provide only information you are entitled to share. Profile, family, saved-chart, bookmark and practice records are stored on the device. When you sign in and sync, those records are sent to the Sankalpa Guru backend and stored in Supabase under your account. Do not put identity documents, payment credentials or other unnecessary information in free-text fields.

Birth date, time, place and calculation inputs are sent to our calculation service when you request a result. Network providers receive connection information, such as IP addresses, when handling requests.

Optional device permissions

Foreground location helps select a place and calculate local Panchang information. The app sends the selected coordinates and date to its calculation service. It does not require background location access. You can decline location or later revoke it in system Settings; the app continues with the currently selected/default place.

Notification permission is requested when you enable practice reminders. The current mobile release schedules these reminders locally on your device. The app does not use this permission to send SMS or marketing messages. Biometric unlock, if enabled, is handled by your device; we do not receive fingerprint or face templates.

Optional usage and diagnostics

Optional diagnostics are off by default. In My sacred space → Privacy & data, you can allow basic usage events through PostHog and generic error reports through Sentry when those services are configured. These reports include platform/app information and a temporary analytics identifier. Network information, including your IP address, reaches the provider handling a request.

The app does not attach your account ID, phone number, birth details, family records, exact location or reading contents to these optional reports. Session recording is disabled. Turning diagnostics off stops new reports; it does not recall reports already delivered. Website analytics have separate controls and are described in the website privacy policy.

Services on hold

Purohit bookings, AI Purohit, purchases, widgets and watch features are unavailable in this mobile release. The app does not send AI questions or process purchases through those held flows. DigiLocker is not integrated. The five included audio recordings play on your device and can be used offline. Any future service integration will need its own working controls and updated disclosures before release.

Storage, deletion and your choices

Account records remain in active storage until you delete them or your account. Individual bookmarks, charts and records can be removed through the relevant controls and synced. Use My sacred space → Delete account for permanent account deletion, or visit https://www.sankalpa.guru/en/delete-account from a browser without reinstalling the app.

Deletion removes the account, cloud profile/family/practice snapshot and associated sessions. The app removes that account's local records and backups after confirmation. Sessions on other devices can no longer sync. An offline device may retain a local copy until cleared. PDFs or other copies you exported remain where you saved/shared them. Guest records and another person's separate account on a shared device are not deleted by this action.

Outstanding bookings or payments from an earlier website service must be resolved before account deletion. Transaction totals can remain without your account/contact details. Hosting backups may retain earlier copies until their configured retention period expires. Support can explain applicable backup or transaction retention before you confirm deletion.

You can change device permissions in system Settings and disable optional diagnostics in the app. Uninstalling the app alone does not delete a cloud account.

Service providers and security

Vercel hosts the web endpoints; Supabase stores synced account data; MSG91 handles SMS delivery. PostHog and Sentry receive optional mobile diagnostics only under the choice described above. Hosting, calculation and communication providers process the data needed for their functions. The app uses HTTPS for service requests and operating-system secure storage for its session token. Ordinary on-device practice records are not represented as an encrypted document vault.
